JV Head Coach & Varsity Assistant- John Janssen

Coach John Janssen returns for his third year in the Oilers program. Coach Janssen did an outstanding job of molding some of the younger players in the program to become varsity players. Coach Luna says, "Coach Janssen, does a real good job of teaching the game to our players. The kids like playing for him and he gets his kids to play the right way" This year Coach Janssen will do double duty by assisting the Varsity team.  He will work with the post players for the program and handle the "special teams" this year. Outside of his coaching duties at Huntington Beach he also continues to coach club basketball here in Orange County. Coach Janssen is a local product graduating from Fountain Valley High School where he played basketball. He continued his playing career at Grand Canyon University in Arizona where he graduated with a degree in Marketing. After graduation, Coach Janssen continued playing professionally overseas for three years. Currently, Coach Janssen is subbing in HBUHSD, hoping to land a job after completing his credential work last spring.
